- Delete stored items to free up space.

To attach your hard drive: - Turn off your console.
- Remove the hard drive bay cover from your console.
 - Position the hard drive over the hard drive bay with the narrow end (the front) pointed toward the front of the console and the broad end (the back) pointed toward the back of the console.
- Place the back of the hard drive against the back of the hard drive bay. Make sure the ridge along the back of the hard drive rests beneath the lip on the back of the hard drive bay.
- Push the front end of the hard drive down until the tab clicks.

To remove your hard drive: - Turn off your console.
- Press the release button on the front of the hard drive and lift the unit from the console.

Note Avoid touching hard drive bay contacts or hard drive connector contacts with fingers or metal objects. Personalize Your Xbox 360 Hard DriveYou can personalize your hard drive by giving it a name. To give your hard drive a name: - With the hard drive attached to the Xbox 360 console, turn the console on.
- Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Memory.
- Highlight Hard Drive and press Y to view the Device Options screen.
- Select Rename, clear the existing name (using X for backspace), and enter a new name of 26 characters or fewer. When you're finished, select Done.
Tip You can enter information using either a USB PC keyboard plugged into a controller port or your Xbox 360 controller and the on-screen virtual keyboard. Once your hard drive has been personalized, you can identify it by its new name. Copy and Delete Items from Your Hard DriveYou can copy items on your hard drive to a memory unit, connected PC, or a connected USB device. You can also free space on your hard drive by deleting items. To copy or move an item from your hard drive to a connected device: - With the hard drive attached to the Xbox 360 console, turn the console on.
- Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Memory.
- Select your hard drive.
- Select the category of the item you want to copy or move.
- To copy or move videos, trailers, and demos, select either Videos and Trailers or Demos, then select the item.
- To copy or move gamer profiles, gamer pictures, and themes, select either Gamer Profiles, Gamer Pictures, or Themes, select the owner of the item, then select the item.
- To copy or move all content associated with a game, selectGames, select the owner of the content, choose the game, select Game Options (Y), then select the item.
- To copy or move just one item for a game (such as a single saved game), select Games, select the owner of the content, select the game, then select the item.
- Select Copy or Move.
Note Gamer profiles can only be moved or deleted, not copied. Certain items, like music files, cannot be copied or moved, only deleted. - Select the connected device to which you want to copy or move your item.
To delete an item from your hard drive: - With the hard drive attached to the Xbox 360 console, turn the console on.
- Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Memory.
- Select your hard drive.
- Select the category of the item you want to delete.
- To delete videos, trailers, and demos, select either Videos and Trailers or Demos, then select the item.
- To delete gamer profiles, gamer pictures, and themes, select either Gamer Profiles, Gamer Pictures, or Themes, select the owner of the item, then select the item.
- To delete all content associated with a game, select Games, select the owner of the content, choose the game, select Game Options (Y), then select the item.
- To delete just one item for a game (such as a single saved game), select Games, select the owner of the content, select the game, then select the item.
Tip If you select Music in this list, you only have the option to delete all music on the hard drive. To delete an individual song, go to the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Music, Hard Drive, Songs. Select the song you want to delete, then Delete Song. - Select Delete.
Troubleshoot Your Xbox 360 Hard DriveHard Drive Not ListedIf your hard drive is not listed as a storage device, try the following steps, in order. - Make sure the hard drive is fully inserted into the hard drive bay and looks level. Turn the console off, then on again.
- Turn the console off and remove the hard drive. Turn the console on and then off again. Reattach the hard drive.
- Try the hard drive on another console, if one is available, or try another hard drive on your console to pinpoint the problem.
