From obscure Russian-themed arcade delight to the present day, no generation of consoles has been complete without its own version of the classic game. Step forward Tetris Splash.
Our latest Xbox LIVE Arcade treasure has a distinctly aquatic theme, with a variety of watery scenes serving as a serene backdrop while you scramble like a crazy person to keep the torrent of falling blocks in ship-shape order. However there’s more to Tetris Splash than gorgeous maritime visuals. Indeed, the familiar block-arranging action is available here in three flavours – the basic Tetris as we know and love it (60+ million of us worldwide, apparently) plus the tricksy new ‘T-Spin’ and ‘Combo’ variants. There’s also a cool screensaver mode, which is great when you just want a quick blast – and, hey, there’s always time in the day for one of those, right? Pitting your hand-eye coordination skills against the Xbox 360 is great fun, particularly as the action heats up and the blocks rain harder. However, as any aficionado will tell you, Tetris really comes into its own when you take on a living, breathing, temples-sweating in furious concentration human player. Of course multiplayer components are a big feature of Tetris Splash, albeit Xbox 360-style. One-on-one versus games are possible both off and online – but, even better than that, Tetris Splash supports up to four player games on a single console or six player face-offs over Xbox LIVE. Players can choose to battle individually or play as teams too. Awesome! Add to that 12 Achievements, downloadable extras and stunning HD graphics and you’ve a pretty comprehensive package.
