Assault Heroes explodes onto Live Arcade – quite literally!
Another week, another excellent Live Arcade game to download. You could set your watches by us, honestly! Our latest offering is the distinctly arcade-flavoured shoot ‘em up, Assault Heroes. It’s a brand new title from Wanako Games, and was developed exclusively for Xbox Live Arcade too! Aren’t we good to you...? Assault Heroes is an innovative action combat game – and a particularly volatile one at that. It’s for one or two gamers both off and online via Xbox Live Arcade. Players slip into the war-torn fatigues of the surviving members of an elite Special Forces unit in the search for a secret underground lab.However this is no easy task when wave upon vicious, unrelenting wave of enemies would rather you not discover their subterranean lair. What unfolds is a fast-paced, overhead-viewed and especially chaotic blaster in the mould of games like Smash TV or Geometry Wars, where the left stick controls movement and the right the direction of fire. The majority of the action takes place in the comfort of a rugged 4x4 buggy or a powerful speed boat, although if either of these super-tough transports takes too much damage the challenge must be undertaken on foot, Rambo-style – help! Assault Heroes boasts a collection of deadly weapons to power-up your characters or vehicles – miniguns, flamethrowers, nukes and devastating special attacks in the co-op mode! The terrain is similarly destructible too, with players able to obliterate satisfying chunks of it thanks to the game’s advanced physics engine. Most of all, though, Assault Heroes is fine, frantic and hugely explosive fun. But then you’d expect nothing less from the Xbox 360, would you? So are you ready to sign up?
