XBOX LIVE UPDATE ANNOUNCED: JUST ADD FRIENDS!
Xbox 360 gets a free upgrade in December, introducing a superb range of new ways to stay in touch with your mates – and maybe find a few more too… Xbox LIVE profiles is to be expanded, allowing you to include your name, location and bio. You’ll also be able to browse your contacts’ friends lists, seeking out acquaintances old and new to share your gaming experiences with. MSN Messenger support for Xbox 360 has also been radically improved, with sign-up integrated when newcomers first join Xbox LIVE, along with the ability to add contacts straight from the dashboard. There’s good news for younger players too: members aged 13-18 can now use MSN Messenger on Xbox 360. Welcome aboard, guys.
Parents are set to have more control over the habits of their game-hungry offspring with the new Family Timer option, which allows Mums and Dads to allocate a set number of hours their kids can spend playing Xbox 360 on a daily or weekly basis. The new update also helps to keep you in touch with all that’s new on Xbox LIVE Marketplace – the Spotlight function points you to great new content and promos, while a New Arrivals area gives you easy access to all the freshest downloadable goodies on LIVE. Inside Xbox is another new feature that will keep you up to date with all the latest developments in the world of Xbox Live, and then there’s Xbox Originals. This exciting feature allows you to download a range of classic Xbox titles like Halo, Psychonauts and Burnout 3: Takedown and play them on your Xbox 360. Bring them on! Whether you’re a LIVE Silver or Gold member, make sure you connect to Xbox LIVE in early December. The update downloads automatically, allowing you to enjoy the new features almost instantly.
