Renewing your subscription
Inevitably, as with all good things, your Xbox Live subscription will come to an end. When it does, your subscription will automatically be renewed. Before your subscription is up and any payment is made, you will receive a notification email which will outline in more detail what your options are.
For our regular Xbox Live subscribers, your options are explained below:
Option 1 - Annual payment
You will automatically default to this payment option, so there's no need to do anything to continue your subscription. This is a one-off payment of £39.99 and will be debited from the credit card you provided upon subscribing. If you would like to revert to monthly payments or purchase a Starter Kit, then Options 2 and 3 below are for you.
Please note: in order for your changes to be effective you must change your payment plan before your renewal is due.
Option 2 - Monthly payment
For a flexible subscription, you can choose to pay for Xbox Live on a monthly basis, this will cost £4.99 per month. Changing your payment plan is easy, just follow the steps below, sit back and enjoy the ride…
- On your Dashboard go to Account Management and select your Xbox Live account.
- Select Subscription.
On the Subscription screen, you'll see details about your existing and next Xbox Live subscriptions. - If you want to see other subscription options or change your next subscription, select Modify.
- Enter the last four digits of your billed credit or debit card.
- Select Subscription Code, and then Monthly.
You are now signed up for the monthly payment option.
Option 3 - Buy another Starter Kit
If you don't wish to have your credit card billed for your next year's subscription, you can buy another Starter Kit for £39.99 RRP. Not only does this include another 12 months subscription but also a Communicator headset and a demo game disc. When buying a Starter Kit, you have two options;
- Continue your existing subscription - you can transfer your Gamertag and use the new subscription code to carry on gaming.
- Start from a new subscription - use your new subscription code to register a totally new account and Gamertag.
If you want to renew using a Starter Kit then you should do the following;
- On your Dashboard go to Account Management and select your Xbox Live account.
- Select Subscription. You will see the details of your existing annual subscription.
- Select Modify.
- Enter the last four digits of your billed credit or debit card.
- Select Subscription Code.
- Enter your subscription code from the subscription card in your starter kit.
Option 4 - Cancel your Xbox Live subscription
Of course, you can always choose to cancel your Xbox Livesubscription. But with over 50 hot games to choose from (and growing!), groundbreaking new features, great community activities and exclusive content downloads… it'd be hard to work out why you would want to. To cancel, you need to call customer support on 0800 587 1102.
What happens if I do nothing?
If you do nothing at all, your Xbox Live account will be renewed automatically using the credit card you used to sign up. For further details go to Account Management and then Subscription in your Dash.
