If you really want to play the Left 4 Dead 2 demo before anyone else, all you need to do is pre-order the Xbox 360 zombie thriller at a participating retailer. That’s right, everyone who pre-orders Left 4 Dead 2 will get hands-on with the demo from 27 October, whereas everyone who doesn’t pre-order must wait until 3 November (Xbox LIVE Gold members only) or 10 November (Xbox LIVE Silver).

The Left 4 Dead 2 demo features gameplay taken from "The Parish" campaign, set in the New Orleans French Quarter. Here lurk all the new boss infected zombies, but you’ve the new range of melee weapons to hand – chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more. So don’t panic. At least not too much. To begin with.
Teams of 1-4 players can enter The Parish across Xbox LIVE or 1-2 players can sweat nervously together in the same room using split screen mode. You can also link a couple of Xbox 360 consoles together locally. The demo will be your first experience of the improved co-operative gameplay, and AI Director 2.0 that realistically changes the weather, world objects and available pathways. The enemy population is more alert to your performance in the field, and your actions influence what they’ll try next.
Left 4 Dead 2 is released 20 November, bringing a much larger game than the original, more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge.
