Award winning games go large

Have you any idea how many awards Gears of War 2 and Fable II have scooped between them? If so, can somebody tell us please – we lost count long ago!

Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE Marketplace, Fable II, Gears of War 2

Both games have garnered more than their fair share of plaudits from critics and gamers alike. If you’ve played either you’ll understand why. And if you haven’t, then wow, have we got a treat in store for you...

We’re talking about the Gears of War 2 and Fable II ‘Game of the Year’ editions. They’re both filled to overflowing with the award-winning games themselves and all the extras you’d ever want. You think we’re kidding?

Gears of War 2’s single-player campaign is a stiff test for any raw COG recruit, but multiplayer is where the real action is – either co-operatively or online versus others on Xbox LIVE. We’ve stuffed every available multiplayer map into the Game of the Year edition too – the Snowblind, Flashback, Combustible and Dark Corners Map Packs. That’s 19 extra arenas to obliterate, complete with every multiplayer mode and Achievement plus an extra singleplayer mission called ‘Road to Ruin’. And that makes the Gears of War 2: Game of the Year edition a bargain in any language.

Meanwhile Fable II's lavishly-rendered horizons are broadened with the addition of the ‘Knothole Island’ and ‘See the Future’ expansion packs. The first adds an island’s-worth of items that you won’t find anywhere else, plus a trio of challenging quests based around Knothole’s unpredictable weather. More intrigue awaits in See the Future, when sinister trader Murgo sells you a number of mysterious and magical artefacts. But what fate lies in store for Albion?

There’s only one way to find out. The Gears of War 2 and Fable II Game of the Year editions arrive September 18th. Miss them and miss out!
