Road rage enters the stratosphere with Vigilante 8 Arcade. Cult-classic auto combat screams onto Xbox LIVE Arcade with heavily armed (and armoured) vehicles dead-set on sending their rivals to the scrap heap – that’s if there’s anything left.
Turn the ignition and launch yourself into one of five newly-designed battle arenas of Vigilante 8 Arcade. It’s love at first sight. You’ll be grinning like a maniac the instant you unleash those onboard rocket-launchers, cackling as your opponent swerves only to land on a mine. Boom-boom! And double ‘Whammy’ points if both collisions are timed to coincide. In Vigilante 8 you conduct chaos from the confines of a hot rod… or truck, or whichever of the eight supercharged vehicles suits your style. V8 is best enjoyed as a multiplayer face-off, and you can enjoy this on the same Xbox 360 in four-player split-screen mode or across Xbox LIVE with up to eight players. While you’re learning the ropes Quest mode introduces drivers to all eight vehicles with three short missions that’ll coach you in the most deadly strategies. Quest mode is a blast unto itself but has the added benefit of unlocking additional vehicles. All vehicles can be upgraded to kick-ass and take names in the arenas. We’ve saved the best until last; this being the unbridled destructibility of all the environments. Rockets, mortar shells and mines not only strike fear into the hearts of your enemy, but can bring buildings crashing down, blow bridges and generally mess with anything that gets in your way or would look better in blazing pieces. Vigilante 8 Arcade is insane but in a good way. For 800 Microsoft Points you won’t find a better blast. Not like this. Not in another million years. |
