Rabbits in your Headlights!

Recent hit Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords placed gamers into a kingdom filled with knights, castles and chivalry. Working from city to city you had to face off against ogres, skeletons and giant rats in a battle to see who could match coloured blobs into groups of three the fastest, thus reducing your rival’s health to zero for the killing blow. Boogie Bunnies is similar, although with rather less of the knights, castles etcetera and a whole lot more in the way of super-cute fluffy rabbits. Awww…

Boogie Bunnies

At the start of each level you’re presented with a warren’s-worth of coloured rabbits arranged at the top of the screen. Taking control of a single bunny at the screen’s perimeter you must aim and shoot the poor pet into the throng of other rabbits. If you manage to create a horizontal or vertical line of three similarly-coloured rabbits they disappear. It’s a simple enough concept, however the real skill comes in planning combos so that, as you clear one set of bunnies, you trigger another disappearing rabbit-trick as the next line falls into place.

The game’s unique in that it allows you to shoot bunnies from the bottom of the board and the two sides, which allows for some intriguing strategy. Arcade mode has the cluster of bunnies moving down the screen every few seconds while Classic mode sees all the rabbits on screen shift positions after three moves. Different coloured bunnies trigger different effects on the board too (i.e. the red ones explode!) so no two games are ever the same.

With the Gamerpoints spread over single player and co-op modes, there’s no cuter place for the obsessive-compulsive rabbit herder. Boogie Bunnies is available from LIVE Arcade now for just 800 MS Points. Oh, and a couple of juicy carrots!
