GTA IV episodes only on Xbox 360

Last year at E3 we told you that Rockstar Games’ signature freestyle crime series Grand Theft Auto IV would be coming to Xbox 360. In September at X06 we added that GTA IV for Xbox 360 would feature episodic downloadable content. Today we can tell you that this amazing first-of-a-kind feature for the Grand Theft Auto series will be available only on Xbox 360. Read it again.

Grand Theft Auto IV

GTA IV introduces a new protagonist named Niko Bellic. He’s a Russian immigrant, newly arrived in Liberty City on the invitation of his cousin, Roman. Things haven’t been so great back home for Niko, but Roman has promised that life is better here in Liberty City. Truth is, Roman is barely making a living himself as a cab driver. It already looks bad, but of course it can get much worse. Cue Niko’s speech of hope from the first trailer “Things Will Be Different”.

As you will have seen by watching the recent trailers a billion times over (every day), Liberty City is transformed from what we already know from previous chapters. The next generation power of Xbox 360 is used to make neighbourhoods look much shabbier; give them a history so palpable you can almost smell it while exploring. Crowds of people you don’t know, or not yet, lots of refuse strewn in the alleyways of Broker and atmospheric touches such as steam-blowing manhole covers. Liberty City is wider but more significantly taller than before. Hope you’ve got a head for heights.

In addition to the exclusive content for Xbox 360, GTA IV will feature a multiplayer mode on Xbox LIVE that will match the drama and intensity of Niko’s solo mission. That’s all we’re allowed to reveal at this stage…

Grand Theft Auto IV will be available for Xbox 360 from 19 October.
