Get ready to ender the huge world of Blue Dragon, from the Father of Final Fantasy himself, Hironobu Sakaguchi. In his first adventure with new development studio Mistwalker, you control Shu and his party of friends on the adventure of a lifetime.
Purple clouds have appeared over Talta village, a bad omen of things to come. The small mountain town is engulfed by shadow and suddenly a land shark attacks! This is the beginning of your journey into the world of Blue Dragon. Here you meet Shu, his best friend Jiro and their friend Kluke. Determined to stop the land shark, the three of them have a cunning plan to catch it before it can do further damage to their homes. Here is where your adventure kicks off and you are introduced to the turn-based control system, which fans of Japanese role-playing games like Final Fantasy will quickly pick up. Each move you make has it’s own option in a command menu for that character – you can attack, defenc, cast spells or use special techniques and items to succeed in battle. Soon Shu meets the evil Nene, a despicable old man who resides within an ancient airship flying around the world. After threatening Shu, he throws the group from his airship only for them to be mysteriously rescued by an anonymous force. They find themselves in a chamber at the top of the airship where strange spheres alter their shadows to become a blue dragon, a minotaur and a phoenix. These shadows come with new abilities and awesome powers for you to unleash on enemies in the game. Each shadow comes with a set of abilities that they can learn straight away – RPG fans will recognise the initial roles of Sword Master (physical fighter), White Mage (healer) and Black Mage (magical damage dealer). As you work your way through the game gaining more experience, you will uncover new abilities and classes that your shadows can pick up and learn. You’ll also meet new allies on your quest with other special abilities and characteristics. Blue Dragon is set in a colourful world designed by Akira Toriyama, who is most famous for having created the designs in Dragonball Z. He’s also worked on games before with Hironobu Sakaguchi with the highly acclaimed Chrono Trigger. His bright vision of Shu’s world is brought to life even more thanks to the talented writing of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy. An awe-inspiring quest awaits and Sakaguchi-san has brought another RPG legend to help out on the game in the form of Nobuo Uematsu, the composer responsible for many of the best RPG soundtracks including the Final Fantasy series. Blue Dragon is made by the masters of RPG design and it really shows as you get further and further into their world |
