Bungie.net
Post Game Reporting

Not content with serving up one of the greatest videogames of all time, Bungie Studios have gone one leap further by catapulting the online experience into new battle territory. Yes, Bungie have been busy behind the scenes building a new and improved Bungie.net, loaded with features that make Xbox Live™ an even deeper, richer gaming experience – and yes, we’re very excited – you should be too.

Stat Attack

Everything you could want to know is just a mouse-click away, from every shot fired to medal earned – it’s all being logged right after each and every game you play. Impressive stuff no doubt, but it doesn’t stop there. With the awe-inspiring Game Viewer, it all goes much, much deeper...

...but, before we go into the really (really) clever stuff, you need to know how you can access it. Here’s what you need to get full access to Bungie.net (just so you know, it’s only in English):

Once you’ve got these in place, get to Bungie.net and have a tinker, here’s just some of what you’ll find.

Overview

Your top level bread and butter battle stats. Check your experience ranking against each Playlist, from Rumble Pit to Big Team Challenge and the number of games you’ve played and won. Click on each Playlist to see the top 1000 ranking players on XboxLive.

Games

All the online games you’ve ever played on Halo™ 2, the date, time, map and position finished. Click on the game name and you’ll start drilling down into the real story behind the battle. It’s only when you start to peel away the layers, that you work out who was really ruling the roost – longest life, best average score, flag saves, assists, grenade sticks – separated, they show who was best in a particular area...but combined, well, that tells a different story altogether. If you read them right, you’ll know who to team up with the next time around.

Game Viewer

So you know who the all-round sharp-shooters are, with the revolutionary Game Viewer, things get even more interesting. In the Games section, for every match played, there is a Game Viewer button in the header of the page. Click it and you’ve just found your gaming utopia – now you can see the maps from the games you just played, from any one of 15 angles. It’s a visual representation using icons to plot every frag on the field and even which weapon was used to perform the brutal act – and you can zoom right in.

This is cool for a number of reasons. Firstly, for all those times you’ve uttered the words “who the £%^& was that?”, you can now find out who fired the shot, from where and with what. Second, in team games like capture the flag you can see which routes back to base appeared safest. Third, you can learn from the actions of others, study their position, weapon and trajectory, then use it in your next game. Fourth (and finally), you can email the link straight to your mates – to rub their nose in it, or, to plan a strategy for your next battle. How cool?

Halo 2 Friends

View your Friends List online and keep a check on your mates trying to put in some extra hours practice on Halo 2. Destroy them.

Clearly, Bungie are working very, very hard at creating something totally unique for Xbox Live members – if this is anything to go by, we’ve got some exciting times ahead. Now, where did I leave that rocket launcher...?
