Archive | There’s less than a week until the Big Day now, and if you’re a Halo fan (if not, why? And how??) we urge you to take a tour of the Halo 3 gamepage as it’s stuffed with information and what we can only immodestly describe as an almost impossibly cool interactive feature – ‘Humanity’s Last Stand’.
Imagine a Halo 3 battlefield, its combatants frozen in the middle of a terrifying firefight so that you can explore in safety. It’s actually a fly-through of a massive real-life model we’ve built, albeit with a number of excellent extras. For instance you can stop to take screenshots at any point and there are sections where you’re treated to a 360 degree view of the explosive action. Best of all, though, is the copious amount of hidden content – old soldiers’ tales, biographies of Halo 3’s heroes and villains, wallpapers and loads of video. Elsewhere we have a fine quartet of titles for your consideration. Warriors Orochi is a spectacular beat ‘em up from the makers of Dynasty Warriors and NHL 08 updates the popular series with new moves and utterly convincing visuals. Meanwhile The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition squeezes the famously expansive game and two of its expansion packs into a single box of role-playing glory. And finally there’s EA’s Skate, which introduces a neat control method where the analogue sticks control your board and body and the shoulder buttons the grabs. With practice ollies, flips and lofty airs start to flow with impressive ease, ultimate realism and not a bruise or grazed knee in sight. In short Skate shreds! So that’s it, then – six days left and counting… Out This Week on Xbox 360: • Warriors Orochi • NHL 08 • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition • Skate |
