Club football is, for me, the best kind of football in the world because it’s where passion for the sport really thrives – within the team and among the fans. In all the years that EA has been producing FIFA for console, the club aspect has been brilliantly represented, but never celebrated to such a degree as in FIFA 09.
Probably you think I’m talking about Arsenal, Bayern, Lyon, Inter Milan and all those guys. Actually I mean playing for your own club; nothing beats the feeling. In FIFA 09 you can establish or join user-controlled clubs with a roster of up to 50 friends. You can then field your best 11 in Be A Pro mode – 10 versus 10 team play across Xbox LIVE. If you think games mattered before, wait until your part of all this! Just like the real football leagues, FIFA 09 Clubs ranks your team according to total points, and there are several divisions to reflect performance. You can even get spotted and asked to join a more successful club if your individual skills outshine your pals. Just remember, nobody likes a mercenary! I’m pretty clever with my feet generally. I can pick up loose laundry with my toes, that kind of thing. Dancing is something I’ve been asked not to do, but – you know – try and stop me if they’re playing my tune! Hopping around with Konami’s Dancing Stage Universe 2 holds no fear for me. Jumping to the beat of “Here It Goes Again” by OK Go gives my arms a rest from marathon riffing sessions in Guitar Hero! I’ve got to say I’m having the time of my life right now with Xbox 360. And in the run up till Christmas I’m gonna need more than an advent calendar to schedule my appearances with my B-boys or footy crew.
