That’s (Not) All Folks…!

Imagine what would happen if all the Xbox 360 releases in a week were merged into one genre-defying videogame. This week’s line-up would make for a particularly interesting combination, throwing together the boogie-to-the-music gameplay of Dancing Stage Universe with the epic fantasy narrative of Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass, all topped off with madcap cartoon capers courtesy of Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal.

Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal

Yes it’s another week of unrivalled diversity on Xbox 360 - you’d expect nothing less, right? Dancing Stage Universe is the latest in the massively-successful dance mat series which has players getting their groove on in time to more than 65 different songs. There’s a Super Easy mode for players with two left feet (or thumbs) while budding John Travoltas can show off their crowd-pleasing moves in online competitions on Xbox LIVE. With tracks from Jamiroquai, Kylie, New Order and The Sugarhill Gang there’s music to suit everyone too.

The Golden Compass is based on the movie of the excellent book, Northern Lights. Players assume the role of Lyra Belaqua in a quest to rescue her imprisoned uncle and kidnapped best friend from the mysterious organization, The Gobblers. Joined by her spirit daemon, Pan, and a giant and powerful armoured bear, Lorek, Golden Compass offers varied gameplay while vividly bringing to life one of the season’s biggest films.

Finally, Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal brings together seven classic characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Taz, all charged with stopping the nefarious plans of the descriptively-named ‘Evil Mad Scientist’. It’s a spectacular romp featuring a raft of ridiculous acme-branded weapons and vehicles. Combine this with recent blockbusters like Mass Effect, Scene It? and Assassin’s Creed and our games catalogue is so hot this Christmas you could roast chestnuts on it!
