I’m known for singing around the office here at Xbox, and usually I get told to ‘shut up or else’ within seconds. Now, though, singing is all in the line of work so I’m grabbing this opportunity with both hands. Give it up for Lips! Oh yes.
Lips, in case you need reminding, is the brilliant karaoke game that comes with two wireless and motion-sensing microphones. Not only are you judged on the quality of your singing (or the closest thing you can manage), but the microphones also detect how you move to the beat. Which means you’re required to give a full performance out there… which can be kind of nerve-wracking I must admit. If you’re the shy retiring type, you can always just reach for an Xbox 360 controller and provide percussion backing. Oh, did I forget to mention the multicoloured flashing lights on those mics? Wave them around and everybody wants a turn. Perhaps Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour are more your bag, especially if you’re a secret heavy-metal fan. With the addition of microphone and drums to Guitar Hero, however, there’s more to success than just strumming guitars as fast as humanly possible. Drumming can be exhausting, and just as humiliating as screaming to the many rock anthems onboard. But if you put your heart and soul into either of these games, I personally guarantee it’ll be one of the best parties of your life. Talk about living the life of a rock star, eh! Just don’t toss your TV out the window, you’ll probably be needing that. Take for instance… …You’re in the Movies captures your most exuberant acting performances using the Xbox LIVE Vision camera, then puts you in the movies – just like it says!
