Archive | Hardest hitting week on Xbox.com? Yep.
I’ve been playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare so hard I’m starting to believe I could do this stuff for real. The living room is a battlefield, with my coffee table overturned for cover and I’m using a smoke screen to avoid getting hit on the move… actually that could be my toast burning. Anyway, COD4 has me gripped like no other game. The harsh reality of missions undertaken by the SAS and US Recon Forces really comes across, and Infinity Ward has cleverly made dramatic set-pieces based on present-day scenarios. Against such a backdrop I’ve been left smiling at their ingenuity. Wait until you try The Javelin…
It takes a different kind of bravado to enter the ring in WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2008. I doubt I’ll be trying “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” at home, but on Xbox 360 this classic mode, alongside Iron Man, Battle Royal, Hell in a Cell and of course Royal Rumble, has never been more fun. I’ve been making the most of my head start learning secondary fighting styles for my main characters. My friends won’t know what hit them on Saturday. I hope. Some might call the antics in Smackdown pure fantasy and rather comedic (although never to the face of Batista, Edge or Kane!). But if you want to be sure of such exploits there’s only one destination – Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. This excellent collection adds to the originals with new levels, new characters boasting enhanced abilities and most importantly for me, 10 extra Bounty Hunter missions! After all this I guess I could try to unwind with Dynasty Warriors Gundam, but as I’m sure you know this series is about as relaxing as bath time with a bunch of starving alligators!
