My personal battle to save mankind

People say I’m good for nothing, but I don’t care. They do not know how I fight for their freedom almost every day, keeping the galaxy’s bad guys at bay. I’m not asking for medals, or even ice cream, just acceptance that not everyone is as skilful as me playing Assault Heroes – one of my all time favourites on LIVE Arcade.

Now the sequel is here, Assault Heroes 2, and I must continue my duties come what may. Only this time I’ve got a suped-up sub-zero freezing ice cannon on my side, alongside my usual stash of missiles and rockets of justice. Hah-hah! Those alien dudes can act sinister as they like, they’re not getting away with this, not if I can help it (and Mr Ice Cannon here says I can).

I might use a hand out there to make missions even more fun this time. Wait until you see the improved co-op weapons, guys; you’ll understand why sometimes even true assault heroes (like me) appreciate good company. Okay, to be honest I’m feeling nervous about some of these on-foot missions, kind of exposed, but it only adds to the thrill and that’s what we’re here for. Luckily we can hijack enemy vehicles this time out: you take the helicopter, the mechanical walker is all mine!

Let’s face it, Xbox LIVE Arcade has been just awesome lately. If I wasn’t going insane over Assault Heroes 2 I’d be rolling dice to choose between Metal Slug 3, Rez HD, Poker Smash, N+, Mr. Driller Online, Ikaruga… so many beyond-great titles that have arrived in only the first few months of 2008.

Gaming just does not get any better than Xbox 360 right now, take it from me… a true assault hero! Maybe I will take that ice cream after all.
