Serving justice and tennis balls

Me, I was never afraid of the dark. With a light on it’s fine, I honestly don’t know what the problem is with some people. If you’ve the tools for the job anything is possible. Like, if you’re armed with a machine gun the monsters had better watch out. If you’re driving a car armed with a machine gun, they’d better start running!

Alone in the Dark

It’s this kind of knowledge that’ll serve you well playing Alone in the Dark this week. Never mind that New York City is being torn apart by some unseen evil. Don’t worry that you’re trapped inside Central Park where evil has taken up residence. It’s even okay that you have been chosen by this evil to fulfil some dreaded destiny.

You’ve got weapons and you’ve got your wits about you, which means that everyday objects such as aerosols can be transformed into weapons too if you’re in a tight spot, and regular weapons can be upgraded to set fire to your bullets for example. So fighting your way out of Central Park will be a cinch... and if it isn’t I’ll just use the Chapter Select feature to skip the scary parts. Yes, Alone in the Dark lets you do this! We shall all be heroes.

Unfortunately for some of us Top Spin 3 does not let you skip to the end of crucial games. You’ve got to take that racket and make it talk the language of winning. The degree of control you get to achieve this is just so joyful that you’ll persist with your own style, ultimately capable of thrashing not only the game’s famous historical players but all of your friends. Top Spin 3 is as serious as it gets in videogame sports, but all the better for it if you ask me.

See you next week if not on the court.
