The future of cute and courage
Two clean-up jobs on my agenda this week, though worlds apart in every way. Whether it’s the endearing WALL-E and his Zen-like mission to clear planet Earth of refuse, or the bombast of the latest Unreal Tournament erupting on screen, I’ve got my work cut out. Both games leave me feeling a better person somehow, but don’t ask me to explain because I can’t. Anyway…
WALL-E is the class-act videogame of the wonderful Disney/Pixar movie and looks astounding on Xbox 360. As our heroic ‘Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class’ sets about clearing the Earth of trash, you figure out how to transform all this trash into useful tools. The dialogue between WALL-E and sweetheart search robot EVE will make you smile, and their co-operative scenarios are ingenius. Really, you will be amazed how much fun Heavy Iron has worked into this warm hearted adventure. And if you loved everything about the movie there’s stuff in here that expands on this coolest of concepts – unexplored areas of the ship, and many more secrets to discover on Earth. Wonderful. Picking up Unreal Tournament 3 after WALL-E is a colossal slap to the face, but in that sporting step-to-it way we enjoy here at Xbox! As one of the pioneering first-person-shooters it goes without saying UT3 on Xbox LIVE is so much fun that it’s hard to put down. You’ll also be impressed with an involving one-player experience that helps you appreciate the team element as opposed to always feeling like the lone crusader. Speaking of which, you’ll meet two new characters on Xbox 360 and there are five new maps to hone. All of this can be enjoyed in two-player split screen mode, currently more requested than FIFA or Pro Evo when I have friends over. Seriously, you’re gonna love them both.
Out This Week Wall-E
