You’ve got the magic touch
So here I am, faced with a gang of infuriating goblins. They’re throwing everything they can at me, including their stinky selves. They know I have a sword in one hand and powerful fire magic smouldering in the palm of the other. But these are goblins; they really deserve a taste of their own mischievous medicine. You know what, I’m going to bring down the roof on their heads, see how they like that!
I’m playing Ubisoft’s “Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements”, a brilliantly crafted first-person RPG that’s not afraid to have a little fun amid all the battles. The thrill is experiencing the classic fantasy world of Might and Magic through the eyes of a warrior, mage or assassin. Cleverest of all, the RPG factor means that you evolve into these characters depending on how you approach each scenario. But it’s the unique melee combat that I personally admire most, the sword play is superb! Looking a little way further into the month, we shouldn’t lose sight of a more traditional role-player coming to Xbox 360 on 29 February: Mistwalker Studio’s “Lost Odyssey”. Now this is being talked about as Hironobu Sakaguchi’s masterpiece, which is no small thing considering the man also created Final Fantasy and Blue Dragon. You’ll want to put your real life on hold because Lost Odyssey is spellbinding Meantime I’ll have magic at my feet, arriving in the form of “FIFA Street 3” next week. As great as Gattusso, Crouch and Ronaldino are in reality, they’re only half as good as this in their wildest dreams! Some of the moves possible in Street 3 – especially the super-powered Game Breaker skills – will have you jeering in victory or sobbing in defeat, they’re so intimidating. Just the way I like to play. Graeme Boyd, Xbox.com Community Manager, Gamertag: AceyBongos Out This Week Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Elements |
