No other way of saying this, what an absolutely amazing – not to mention supersonic – year 2007 has been. Last time I checked I was trying to lure a Chewnicorn during my Christmas 06 Viva Piñata-thon. I’ve a fleeting but ever-lasting memory of burning the midnight oil playing Halo 3 multiplayer Beta in May, after counting the days beforehand. I think I’d just about remembered to remove my Christmas party hat.
Xbox LIVE Arcade has been simply phenomenal all year round, some favourites being Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Jetpac Refuelled in spring, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Bungie Studio’s legendary Marathon: Durandal through the summer, and just recently Speedball 2 and Sensible World of Soccer. Everything has been pure class. My personal highlight of the year, Forza Motorsport 2, landed in June and, as you might know, eats up mucho playtime without you knowing. But of course we had another monumental arrival on the horizon, in the form of BioShock to welcome us back after the summer holidays. Although August was warm during the day (I think) my evenings were chilled with fear for the most part! The Big Event happened right on schedule during September – Halo 3, which would’ve wrapped it up had we not been looking forward to more genre-defining action in the form of Project Gotham Racing 4 the following month, and then Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty 4 and Mass Effect the month right after that! Just where did the year go? I think if we all take a look at our Gamerscore we’d have a pretty good clue!If 2008 is only half as good as 2007 I’ll need to keep a diary to remember what else has been happening in my life.
