Recently we’ve been reminded (yet again) that with Xbox 360 we don’t just get the best games, we get the ultimate. The revelation that Halo 3’s Campaign mode allows four-player cooperative gameplay across Xbox LIVE is such an example, slackening the jaws of even the most demanding gamers. And, as you know, it is not enough for Rockstar Games to bring the best-ever edition of Grand Theft Auto to Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 version of GTAIV will have exclusive episodes to download next year. So that’s two of the biggest gaming events in the known universe – period – and only on Xbox 360.

Halo 3

Personally I can’t wait to spend more time with Blue Dragon from the end of this month. I’m a huge fan of RPGs and can tell you from my heart that this one is something very special – producer Hironobu Sakaguchi is a genius storyteller, as the early Final Fantasy games testify. Add to this the legendary artwork style of Akira Toriyama and the always captivating music from Nobuo Uematsu. Blue Dragon is simply a videogame masterpiece, reflected by sky-high Japanese review scores.

Other than Halo 3, if I’m to take a break from the fantasy of Blue Dragon it could also be for the realism of Medal of Honor Airborne, due September. EA’s WWII first-person shooters always brave the frontline with new gameplay features, and this time you must parachute behind enemy lines to begin each mission. Talk about nerve-wracking! After this I’ll certainly be looking to Stuntman: Ignition for some explosive Hollywood style vehicle-based mayhem.

Until next week, with 26 September edging ever closer…
