Comic book hero rampage

Who would win in a fight between Asterix or Hellboy? This argument has been going on at Xbox for over a week, the guys here have been driving me nuts!

It started when we loaded up “Asterix at the Olympic Games”, and I only asked, as a joke by the way: “But isn’t Asterix just supposed to win everything, isn’t that the whole point to the story?”. I thought this would be ignored but it got the entire Inside Xbox and Xbox.com teams involved. What about Superman? What about Ryu! What about… Hellboy? Yeh, what about him?! So here we are.

So, Hellboy first. As you may have seen in the movie Hellboy II: The Golden Army and in the recent Xbox 360 game The Science of Evil, he’s capable of upsetting some very big monsters. He can punch through walls. He cracks some good jokes. I reckon Hellboy could make everyone laugh at Asterix’s expense then send the little guy into orbit with one swift uppercut to the jaw. This sense of unstoppable power is certainly evident in The Science of Evil, something I’ve always got time for.

Anyone who ever read an Asterix book, watched the show on TV or even took in a feature film will know (and I’m guilty on two accounts), it just doesn’t matter how big or strong the other guy is, Asterix just needs to take a swig of his magic potion and guess who’s the winner right? Hellboy might spell trouble for Hermann Von Klempt and the king of the Unseen Realm, but Asterix would only need to swing Hellboy around by the ankles and throw him into a tree. And let that be a lesson to him.

Until Asterix meets Hellboy on Xbox I guess we’ll never know for sure.
