Fifth Splinter Cell exclusive to Xbox 360

Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell series has always looked at its best on Xbox, and historically made fantastic use of Xbox Live. So it seems only right that Ubisoft has set aside the next in this hit series as a console exclusive for Xbox 360. This is not to be confused with fourth instalment Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent, by the way. We’re talking about a whole new fifth mission for surly special ops guy Sam Fisher, now destined to be everything it could and should be.

Splinter Cell

One of the main reasons Ubisoft is focusing on Xbox 360 is for the Xbox Live opportunities the game will offer. As far back as Splinter Cell on Xbox there have been new missions to download and peerless multiplayer options to explore. Specially created scenarios featuring ARGUS mercenaries versus SHADOWNET spies in Pandora Tomorrow provided a spark of genius that has been built upon for revolutionary cooperative and competitive Xbox Live gaming ever since. That the ingenious know-how of Ubisoft Montreal is now focused entirely on Xbox 360 for Splinter Cell can only bode well for the award-winning gameplay.

Ubisoft will be working more closely than ever with Microsoft to take full advantage of everything we currently expect from gaming on Xbox Live, and who knows maybe beyond (we’ve learned to rely on both Microsoft and Ubisoft to always have something cunning and new in reserve).

It’s unlikely that we’ll see anything on Splinter Cell 5 much before early next year however, so in the meantime make sure you don’t miss Sam at large in his newest assignment, Double Agent, which is released next month across Europe for both Xbox and Xbox 360.
