After a night of exploring the tapas bars of Barcelona town, Wednesday was the big day. International publishers and press started to arrive to in the afternoon, so to avoid the crowded lobby we headed down to the convention area to see what our friends at Activision were up to.  Turns out they were rocking out to Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360 and giving the new guitars a run through!

Enlivened with rock music and slightly aching fingers, we left the Activision team to head to the press conference in the afternoon. Little did we know – mine and Graeme’s gamertags kept appearing in the auditorium as the excited audience awaited Chris Lewis’s entrance on-stage!

With the audience applauding every big announcement as it hit, it was time for the two huge hits at the end, and even we had to blink a few more times to believe what we were seeing – Peter Jackson on-stage talking about his new Halo project!  Just to make the crowd roar twice as loud, his appearance was then followed by the sign-off announcement – Halo Wars on Xbox 360.

Once the excitement had died down and we’d all had some time to recover, what better place to head off to than the after party? All the big names in the world of games were there including Peter Moore and the upstairs games area was packed with gamers desperate to get their first go on Gears of War.
