With such a reputation for quality games, it’s no surprise that Rare are producing one of the hit titles at Leipzig this year. Viva Piñata has proved so captivating that it has spawned its own TV series from 4Kids, produced a hilarious E3 trailer earlier in the year and made Piñatas fun without having to whack them for the sweets inside!
Viva Piñata promises an entirely player-driven world – your game starts with just a spade and a load of mud and it’s your job to bring in piñatas. You can do this by planting shrubs, building houses and making the whole place a lot more friendly to them. Once your pile of mud is looking a little more like a garden, your first piñatas will start visiting and interacting with one another.
Once you get a few different types of piñata taking up residence in your world, you’ll need to manage the locals as not all of them will get on right away. Crocodile piñatas will scare off duck piñatas and they’ll be throwing candy at each other until someone gets upset. However, manage your flock correctly and you could be in for a chance of luring the rarest piñata of them all, the unicorn.
It doesn’t stop there though, the Xbox Live features will include tagging your piñatas and trading them online for piñatas that have been lured to other player’s gardens. The Viva Piñata experience promises to be a very different one for many Xbox 360 players and we look forward to it hitting our favourite console soon.
