With E3 changing into a very different, more business-orientated event distancing itself from consumers, the organisers for Leipzig are hoping their show will become the de facto show for gamers to visit. It’s no surprise really, with all of the exciting Xbox 360 announcements that have accompanied it this year.
Already we can see our favourite system has the strongest games showing, with more exclusives than you can shake a stick at including the long-awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 6. Football fans can be doubly happy as we’ll also see the next-generation FIFA 07 exclusively on Xbox 360.
FIFA 07 promises a completely new engine, built from the ground up with some of the most impressive and realistic features to date. At the Microsoft Press Conference in Leipzig, the game’s Producer Hugues Ricour showed a virtual Ronaldinho performing balletically to the camera with carefully motion-captured precision. In addition to mocap though, the new FIFA engine uses the Xbox 360’s power to work realistically based on biometric data – Ronaldinho changes pace quickly, stops and plants his foot all with incredible precision.
Together with the physics, the AI has improved dramatically with each player now having their own unique quirks based on the players actions. Beyond all the technical triumphs that this new game in the series offers though, you’ll also be able to go online with Xbox Live and get the latest news and radio feeds from your favourite clubs. Pro Evolution Soccer sees it’s first next generation outing on Xbox 360 which will have fans of Konami’s take on the beautiful game jumping for joy. As well as improved AI and stunning visuals, PES 6 also promises more licensed clubs than ever before along with further refinements to its responsive play system.
