Hedley's current album FAMOUS LAST WORDS is approaching double platinum, they're on their seventh consecutive #1 single, have been nominated for multiple Juno's, and recently swept the 2008 Much Music Video Awards winning all major categories. You can catch Hedley touring across Canada this October. I was able to snag some time with the band's frontman Jacob Hoggard. Described by his bandmate, Tommy Mac as "charmingly obnoxious", I was eager to get know to more about Jacob and his love of gaming!
Jade: You recently took on fans at a “Game with Fame” event at the Calgary Stampede – it looks like you had a blast! Tell me all about it. Jacob Hoggard: It was painful! I thought I could hold my own at the game (Guitar Hero III), even on expert, but there were kids half my size making me look like I was playing blind! Jade: What was your first thought when you were offered the chance to do an Xbox LIVE “Game with Fame”and play against your fans? Jacob: At first I thought I could have a chance to show off, but I was gravely mistaken!
Jade: Do you often play with fans or friends on Xbox LIVE? Jacob: With friends, yes, all the time. We play every chance we get on Call of Duty 4. Jade: When did you first get into gaming? Jacob: When I was a kid. I always had the latest and greatest console. Now they just take up space at my parents’ house. Jade: What Xbox 360 games are you playing right now? What's your favourite game of all time? Jacob: Call of Duty 4!!! It is by far the best game ever made!!! Jade: Where do you do most of your gaming – at home or while touring? Jacob: On tour, mostly, but a surprising amount while I'm home, too! Jade: Being a musician, do you feel you have an "edge" when you play rhythm games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band? What are your favourite songs to play in these games? Jacob: Hardly! Natural gamers always have the upper hand, as well as the competitive edge! Jade: Do you see any of your songs appearing in future versions of music games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band? Which of your songs do you think would be best suited for video games? Jacob: I wish! Mine aren't nearly as cool as the ones on there already. Jade: What is one thing your fans would be most surprised to learn about the band if they were lucky enough to spend some quality time with you guys? Jacob: We're closet geeks. From comic books to Guitar Hero to World of Warcraft, we love it all!!!! Thanks for the chat, Jacob!
