Jake Vs Jade Day 3

Published June 4th 2009

It’s our final day at the show, and we had to make sure it went off with a bang.  We worked the floor one last time to get you the greatest bits on the hottest games.

Jade: Today was crazy.  Seriously, I think this was our most intense yet.

Jake: Two words: Project Natal

Jade: Ya that was insane sneaking into that room to get a peek.  But I was stoked to use the controls to play Burnout without using a controller.  That was wild.  It was like I was actually driving but way more cool.  The controls are so good, my imagination is going wild for where Microsoft is going to take this on the Xbox.

Jake: Our fake moustaches and sunglasses really worked.  The way that the camera picks up your movements and skeletal system to really know what you are doing was unlike anything I have ever seen before.  With all the smart people working on this, the possibilities are endless.

Jade: And my highlight of the day aside from meeting Kudo was meeting up with Bioware to check out Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age.  My favourite part is that you can take your character from the first game and use it to explore the world in the second game.  What did you think about Mass Effect?

Jake: The presentation was epic.  The world and the way you make decisions is very impressive.  The whole atmosphere and space exploration is amazing.  As someone that played Mass Effect through four times, I am drooling.

Jade: The other thing we really got a chance to explore today was the whole Xbox Live Arcade lineup.  When we finally were able to get on Trials HD, I was so excited.  That game is a whole lot of fun.  And talking to Mark Rein about Shadow Complex was really exciting.

Jake: Shadow Complex is like the game of my dreams because it combines 2D exploration with amazing 3D graphics.  Never seen anything like it on Xbox Live Arcade and summer can’t come soon enough to get my hands on this game.  Oh and a big shoutout to Donald and Laura Mustard from Chair Entertainment.

Jade: Well we captured a whole ton of amazing stuff that I can’t wait to share with the community back in Canada.

Jake: Yes, I am going to upload another video tomorrow.  The Canadians at the show were so hospitable and really made us proud.  We are so lucky to come from such a talented country.

Jade: I agree.  Well we are heading back home tomorrow so now we are off to celebrate one huge E3.  See you soon Canada hope you enjoyed our coverage of the show.

Jake Vs Jade Day 2

Published June 3nd 2009

– No less exhilarating, we had a day packed with meetings and sightings.  Here’s our take on what went down at the LACC.

Jade: Today I felt like we covered a lot of ground.  I can’t believe how many amazing games we were lucky enough to get our hands on.  What was the highlight of the day for you?

Jake: Without a doubt, the Bioshock 2 multiplayer demo.  It looks amazing and is being made in Canada by our very own Digital Extremes.  There is so many possibilities with developing your character and using plasmids and weapons.  There is even a mode where you can become a Big Daddy.  You’d like that wouldn’t you Jade?

Jade: You know it, that’s how I roll.  I think the Bioshock demo room was probably the coolest looking space at E3. It was just gorgeous, kinda like the game.  For me, the biggest highlight was definitely Splinter Cell: Conviction.  That game is the first that has ever actually lived up to the claim of really looking and playing like a movie.  It is seriously ridiculous, and that has leapfrogged to the top of my list of must plays.

Sam is back!

Jake: Sam Fisher as a bad ass is cool.  Splinter Cell is one of my favourite franchises of all time and this game does not disappoint.  Did you see anything that didn’t involve massive human carnage that you liked Jade?

Jade: Oh right.  Well, Split Second is crazy fun.  The ability to trigger events and blow up entire environments was awesome.

Jake: I know, those explosions look like something straight out of Die Hard.  And that amazing Forza III demo by Dan from Turn 10 got me really excited for that game.  It’s the ultimate in cars, graphics, physics, visuals and most of all, community features.  Oh and the HD video editor was amazing.  Seriously, 400 different cars on 100 different tracks is going to make for a ton of fun gameplay.  This is a car lover’s dream come true.

Forza 3

Jade: While we are on driving games, I was addicted today to Joy Ride and that is going to be my new Revolt.

Jake:  Joy Ride is great, but Trials HD is going to also blow away our community it’s so addictive.  It’s the only game that makes failing fun, and it’s true.

Jade: I just can’t believe how many games have snuck up onto my now massive must play list.  And there are more tomorrow.  We still have to hit Sega, EA Montreal, Bioware and a whack of others.

Jake: And I am willing to get in full Master Chief gear and do back flips if I can get sneak my way into a Project Natal demo.  If it’s even in the booth.

Jade: It’s more elusive than Snuffalufagus, seriously we need to get that figured out tomorrow.  The community needs to know more and we are their only hope.  Well off to the Ubisoft party and then to cap the night with Xbox at the Standard rooftop patio.  More updates tomorrow from Day 3.

Jake Vs Jade Day 1

Published June 2nd 2009

Day One – LA Convention Center – 11:45 am.  Doors open, crowds flood onto the show floor at E3 2009.  Jade and Jake battle the crowds to check out the latest and greatest games for Xbox 360.  Here is their take on the first day.

Jade: So Jake what was the biggest for you today?

Jake: I feel like I didn’t really get to see anything much!  We did so many interviews, I barely laid a hand on a single game.  But seriously, I am changing that over the next couple of days.  But Splinter Cell Conviction, that was amazing from the little I saw, but I can’t wait for tomorrow when we can go more indepth in our Ubisoft meeting.

E3

Jade: Ya that’s right we are hooking up with the Ubisoft Montreal team tomorrow.  First thing, so you have to behave tonight.

Jake: I always behave.  So what about you, what made you flip?

E3 2009

Jade: Besides stalking Victoria Beckham in the booth?  They actually asked the Xbox team come over to set up some Xbox 360 consoles at the Beckham house tomorrow.  That’s a job I would have volunteered for in a heartbeat!  But seriously, Final Fantasy XIII has restored my belief in that franchise.  After FF VII I completely lost interest, but I can’t wait to get my hands on that game.  2010 can’t come soon enough.

Jake: Looks cool.  What’s got me excited for 2010 are a few things I didn’t even get to see but I can’t wait.  Deus Ex III and Thief IV are two games Eidos Montreal talked about today that I am really looking forward to as a long time fan of both game franchises.

E3

Jade: We Canadians know how to make sweet games.  We heard a lot about that today, tons of Canadian developers and seriously almost every huge, talked about title was made in the Great White North.  So what’s on your agenda for tomorrow?

Jake: Tomorrow we are talking to a ton of cool people, but I have to get my hands on Project Natal and try out all the cool stuff I saw at the conference.

E3

Jade: I know that thing is harder to get at than Victoria Beckham.  Well let’s hit the road back to the hotel and get ready for tomorrow.

Jake: I am going to devour a steak tonight.  Post some pics and then go to sleep.  It’s all in a day’s work at E3.

Want to win an exclusive E3 t-shirt from the crew at 360sync.com?  Send Jade an email.  A huge thanks to DJDatz for donating the E3 swag.  See you back here tomorrow for our Day 2 updates.
