A Wild Ride

Published June 04 2009

Even though I am a bit fuzzy from a very late night, I am excited to hit the floor on our last day at E3, but I also feel the pressure.  There are so many things I haven’t been able to get to at E3.  That’s a testament to the show.  Honestly I have only scratched the surface of South Hall, and today my mission is to make it over to West Hall to see what some of the publishers there are up to.  I really appreciate all your messages and tweets to help guide us in the right direction, towards things you really want to see.  It’s been a wild ride, and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to be here to share it all with you.  My hope is that this energy continues for the show in 2010 and beyond.  I leave you with pics from yesterday’s adventures at the show.  Now I am off to finish another video before meeting up with Sega.  More updates to come later this morning.

E3 2009 – Proud to be Canadian

Published June 03 2009

Honestly, I think as Canadians we are taking over the games industry.  Last night at dinner, I was shocked at the number of people I ran into from our great nation.  Unless we all just have a penchant for Hawaiian-fusion, that tells me we are out there in massive numbers at this year’s E3 show.  And I couldn’t be more proud.

As we work the show floor, meeting with developers and getting our hands on the hottest new games, it blows my mind the sheer talent that exists north of the border.  Fight Night 4 looks and plays so hot, and the game mechanics were masterminded by two childhood friends from Belleville, Ontario.  The lineup to check out the Bioware games Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age was huge.  And Splinter Cell: Conviction (which we are getting up close and personal with today, woot!) is receiving huge buzz as one of the biggest games of the show.

And that’s just the tip of the Canadian iceberg.  In speaking with Danielle Parr from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, she let me know that there are 15 major Canadian-made titles being shown at E3 this year, and almost all are on my list (and your’s funny enough, it’s amazing how great minds think alike) of must plays at the show.  And that’s great news for anyone looking to get involved with making games.  The opportunities are growing in Canada.

And we are off for another day working the floor at E32009.  Keep an eye here for our show recap later today and of course you can follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/jadelive.

It’s A Great Year to Be an Xbox Gamer

Published June 02 2009

You’ve heard the saying you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone?  Well that really rings true this year at E3 2009.  Not having had the spectacle of the E3 circus since 2006 has made me realize how much I truly missed it!  But I am pleased to say E3 is back in a big way and I’m psyched to be a gamer lucky enough to be at the greatest show on earth (sorry Barnum & Bailey).

Monday was a whirlwind of news events and parties that really brought me back to the good old E3 glory days.  We started with the Xbox press conference in the morning, watched some more exciting news hit from our partners EA and Ubisoft in the afternoon, hustled over to the Hilton Checkers for the Xbox Canada E3 party, and topped it all off at the ultra-exclusive Xbox VIP party on the roof of the Standard Downtown.  Whew!  I am run off my feet already, but I’m up and ready to kick off our first day on the floor at the LACC.  On the schedule today EA, Eidos and 2KGames.  I am pumped!

More from the show floor via Twitter and our blog and check out our first video from the show going live on Xbox.ca and Inside Xbox later today.  Don’t forget to message us if we have missed something you really want to see.  JakenBear and I are your eyes and ears at E3 this year so make us work for it.
