Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
Common terms used in these rules:
These are the official rules that govern how the Microsoft Rock Your Weekend Play & Win Prize Draw promotion will operate. This promotion will be simply referred to as the "Prize Draw" throughout the rest of these rules.
In these rules, "we," "our," and "us" refer to Microsoft Corporation the sponsor of the Prize Draw. "You," "yourself" refers to an eligible Prize Draw entrant.
1. WHAT ARE THE START AND END DATES?
This Prize Draw starts at 12:01 AM Eastern Time (ET) on February 8, 2008, and ends at 12:00 AM ET on February 10, 2008("Entry Period").
The Entry Period consists of seventy-two (72) separate Hourly Prize Periods, each, an "Hourly Prize Period". At the end of the Entry Period, Hourly Prize Winners will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries received during each Hourly Prize Period. All Hourly Prize Winners will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.
2. CAN YOU ENTER?
You are eligible to enter this Prize Draw if you meet the following requirements:
- You are a legal resident of the 50 United States (including District of Columbia) andCanada, and you are 14 years or older at the time of entry; and
- You are NOT an employee of Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft Canada, Co., or any of their subsidiary companies; and
- You are NOT involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw;and
- You are NOT an immediate family (defined as parent, sibling, spouse, child regardless of where they live) or household member of a Microsoft employee, an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw.
This Prize Draw is void outside the geographic area identified above and wherever else prohibited by law.
3. HOW DO YOU ENTER?
There are two ways to enter: online or via mail.
To enter online, you must have access to an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and the Rock Band Xbox 360 video game. In addition, you must be an Xbox LIVE Gold member in good standing.
Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you must register for this Prize Draw by doing one of the following:
- Register for the Prize Draw online
OR, - Register via Xbox LIVE Marketplace by downloading the free Rock Your Weekend Gamer Pictur. To download the Rock Your Weekend Gamer Picture:
- Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Xbox LIVE Marketplace,
- Select "Game Store",
- Select "All Games",
- Select "Rock Band",
- Select "Rock Your Weekend Gamer Picture" from the list of available content and select "Confirm Download".
- Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download Players will see a "Thank You for Registering" message.
Users may also access the free Rock Your Weekend Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.
You must register for this Prize Draw using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to play Rock Band multiplayer sessions on the Xbox LIVE service. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE membership information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current.
During the Entry Period, registered players will automatically receive one (1) entry into the then current Hourly Prize Period when logged in and playing a Rock Band multiplayer session on the Xbox LIVE service.
To enter via mail , hand-print your first and last name, address, city, state/province, ZIP code/postal code, phone number and e-mail address (if any) on a 3x5 piece of paper and mail it to:

Limit one (1) entry per outer envelope, and twenty-four (24) entries per day. To be entered into any Hourly Prize Period, your mail-in entry(ies) must be postmarked by Monday, February 11, 2008, and received by Monday, February 18, 2008.
We will only accept one (1) entry per person per Hourly Prize Period. We are not responsible for entries that we do not receive for any reason, or for entries that we receive, but are not decipherable for any reason.
We will automatically disqualify:
- Any incomplete or illegible entry; OR
- Any entries that we receive from you that are in excess of the entry limit described above.
4. WHAT IS/ARE THE PRIZE(S)?
Seventy-Two (72) Hourly Prizes Available. A prize package consisting of the following items:
- Official Rock Band T-shirt (Approximate Retail Value (ARV), $20.00 USD)
- Official Rock Band hat (ARV, $15.00 USD)
- 500 Microsoft Points (ARV $6.25 USD)
[NOTE: Microsoft Points will expire from a user's account at 11:59 PM PT on June 30, 2008. Winners must spend these Microsoft Points prior to this expiration date.]
ARV of each Hourly Prize: $41.25 USD
Six (6) Second Prize Package Available. A prize package consisting of the following items:
- 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription (ARV $50.00 USD)
ARV of Hourly Second Prize Package: $300.00 USD
Three (3) First Prize Package Available. A prize package consisting of the following items:
- Fender Stratocaster Guitar (ARV, $750.00 USD)
- Rock Band game guitar and drum set (ARV, $140.00 USD)
- 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription (ARV $50.00)

ARV of First Prize Package: $2820.00 USD
One (1) Grand Prize Package Available. A prize package consisting of the following items:
- A Fender Stratocaster Guitar (ARV, $750.00 USD)
Rock Band game guitar and drum set (ARV, $140.00 USD)
- 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription (ARV $50.00 USD)
- A trip for winner and guest to New York City, NY to attend MTV Studios (ARV, $3,000 USD).
Trip includes:
- Round trip coach airfare from major airport closest to winner's home.
- Trip winner's travel companion will be required to execute a Liability/Publicity Release prior to issuance of travel documents. If a travel companion is a minor, he/she must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at his/her own expense if the parent/guardian is not the winner.
- If winner lives within 100 miles of travel destination, Sponsor reserves the right to provide alternative transportation.
- Three (3) nights standard hotel accommodations (two (2) people per room);
- Transfers to/from airport/hotel;
- Opportunity for winner and guest to tour MTV Studios;
- If the event is cancelled for any reason, Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner other than to provide the travel portion of the prize minus the opportunity to attend event.
- A $150.00 USD travel allowance.
Actual value depends on date/time/destination, and difference between actual value and stated value will not be awarded.
Travel subject to availability and must be completed on dates specified by the Sponsor or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Some restrictions may apply. Winner and any guests must travel on same itinerary. No cancellation of reservation, or transfer of reservation to another date after reservation has been made.
ARV of Grand Prize Package: $3,890.00 USD
Total ARV of all Prizes combined: $8,180 USD
If for any reason the advertised prize is unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. We will only award one (1) Hourly Prize per person.
If you are selected as a potential winner:
- You may not exchange your prize for cash or any other merchandise or services.
- You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we will award it to an alternate potential winner.
- If you accept a prize, you will be responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize, if any.
- If you accept the travel prize, you must have valid documents for travel. The prize will be forfeited if: (a) the proper travel documents are unattainable for any reason within the time required by Microsoft; (b) if you are Canadian and did not have the unqualified right, at the time of being selected, to re-enter Canada after leaving the country; or (c) if any immigration complications arise which prohibit you as a Canadian, from enteringthe United States. In the latter event, you will be solely responsible for arranging and paying for travel back to your point of origin.
- And are a minor (being under the age of majority) we may award, at our sole discretion, the prize to your parent/legal guardian on your behalf.
5. HOW ARE WINNERS SELECTED AND NOTIFIED?
On or around February 25, 2008, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will select one (1) Hourly Prize Winner from among all all eligible entries during each Hourly Prize Period. Non-winning entrieswill notcarry over to any remaining Hourly Prize Periods.
After the Hourly Prize Period Drawings, two (2) Second Prize Winners, one (1) First Prize Winner, and one (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible Hourly Prize Winners.
If you are a potential winner, we will notify you by sending a message to the e-mail address, the phone number, or mailing address (if any) listed on your entry within seven (7) days following the random drawing. If our notification is returned as undeliverable, or we are unable to reach you for any reason, we may randomly select an alternate winner.
If there is a dispute as to who is the potential winner, we will consider the potential winner to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter the Prize Draw.
If you are a potential winner, we may require you to sign a declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release.If you are a potential winner and if you are a minor in your state/province of residence we may require that your parent or legal guardian sign a declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release. If you, (or your parent/legal guardian if applicable), do not sign and return these required forms within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may disqualify you (or the designated parent/legal guardian) and randomly select an alternate winner.
If you are a potential winner and you are a Canadian resident will be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by either telephone or email. If you answer the skill-testing question incorrectly, as determined by us in our sole discretion, you will be disqualified and, at our discretion, an alternate winner shall be chosen from among all remaining eligible entries.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING?
Your odds of winning an Hourly Prize in this Prize Draw depend on the number of eligible entries we receive. Your odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of Hourly Prize Winners.
7. WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS ARE YOU ARE AGREEING TO BY ENTERING THIS PRIZE DRAW?
By entering this Prize Draw you agree:
- To abide by these Official Rules;
- To the extent allowable under applicable law, to release and hold harmless Microsoft, its or their respective advertising and promotional agencies and Prize Draw judging organization, the parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, representatives, successors, assignsand agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Prize Draw or any prize won.
- That Microsoft's decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Prize Draw; and
- That by accepting a prize, Microsoft may use your name and place of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Prize Draw, without payment or compensation to you.
8. WHAT LAWS GOVERN THE WAY THIS PRIZE DRAW IS EXECUTED AND ADMINISTRATED?
This Prize Draw will be governed by the laws of the United States. Prize Draw is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, State and Municipal laws.
For Quebec Residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
9. WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE PRIZE DRAW CAN'T RUN AS PLANNED?
If cheating, a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also referred to as force majeure)affects the fairness and/or integrity of this Prize Draw, we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Prize Draw, subject to obtaining the approval from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux with respect to the province of Quebec. This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If a solution cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Prize Draw, we reserve the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Prize Draw.
If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Prize Draw by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by law. Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Prize Draws, so please play fairly.
10. HOW CAN YOU FIND OUT WHO WON?
We will post the names of confirmed winners online after March 17, 2008 at http://www.xbox.com/winners. This list will remain posted until April 17, 2008.
11. WHO IS SPONSORING THIS PRIZE DRAW?
