Prima Tips for Burnout ParadisePublished January 14, 2008 Compare and Contrast: Game Map and Guide Map
This is the map that appears in the game's demo. Although helpful, this has none of the shortcuts shown, or any of the places you can drive on, except the main thoroughfares. Now, compare it to the map from the Prima Guide:
This map has color-coded the main roads, shortcuts, train tracks and tunnels, interstate roads, and hidden areas—everywhere you can travel is easily located. There are even arrows showing every jump and drop you can take! Note that the Prima strategy guide has the complete map of Paradise City, not just this smaller demo map. Top Five Stunt Runs Show all your friends these insane stunt-filled runs to get the most out of your online play and Stunt events!
The area you'll return to time and time again is the South Bay Expressway bridge. There are billboards, air time opportunities, spins, and super jumps aplenty here.
Continue the run into the Naval Dockyard, and pass through the containers, finishing with a jump through a billboard just west of the battleship.
The train tracks on White Mountain, just north of Nelson Way, have a load of billboard and jumping opportunities, especially near the yellow steel bridge.
The north-south Webster Street is exceptional as there's a raised central area with a freeway underneath. Perform jumps up from below, or crash through the billboards on ground level.
Don't forget the beach in the northeastern corner of Palm Bay Heights. Here, there are barrel rolls, jumps, and a super jump to find and chain together. Top Five Cool and Hidden AreasHave you explored every inch of Paradise City? There are hundreds of cool shortcuts, off-road areas, and hidden zones outlined in the strategy guide. Make sure to check these areas out.
You can drive to the roof of eleven different parking structures in Paradise City. From here, there are always two or three ramps to take you to secret areas or through billboards.
The El Train Tracks throughout Downtown are excellent alternatives to the main roads (although not all of the tracks can be driven on). The area east of the broken bridge is especially useful. Stay high and avoid the traffic.
The train tunnel, accessed as you wind along West Crawford Drive from Palm Bay Heights, offers a fast route to the northwest and east finishing points, and loads of stunt-filled fun without the traffic!
You've found the airfield in Silver Lake, right? If not, locate it off Nelson Way, and find all the crazy jumps inside. It's perfect for helping to give you a massive stunt score, and just for simply larking about.
Don't leave Paradise City without visiting the Lone Peaks Quarry. There are two entrances off South Mountain Drive, and another super-secret exit once you're in this stunt nirvana. That's just some of the intriguing secret areas and stunt runs found throughout Burnout™ Paradise. Get in your car and drive! |
