Let’s face it; Super Meat Boy is a very hard game. Some might say impossible, but I like to look on the bright side. With the right skills and a little determination (okay, a lot of determination) it can be bested.

With today seeing the release of 40 brand new free levels over Xbox Live I went to the source for some inspiration and pro tips. Edmund McMillan, the game’s creator and indie gaming legend, has given Xbox.ca five sure-fire tips for maybe, possibly, almost surviving.

Become One with the Controller
Zone out, try and not think about what you're doing and just let your reflexes do the work for you.

Know Yourself
Keep in mind you have 3 jump heights; tap, press and hold. Each one will affect the height of Meat Boy’s jump.

Let the Wind Through Your Hair
Remember holding right also effects your horizontal air speed, letting off the gas in a jump will give you more control in the air.

Study Your Surroundings
Be on the lookout for alternate routes in every level.

Misery Loves Company
Make sure you have people around to laugh at you when you fail.
