Check out the Gears of War 3 – Community Review

As part of the Gears of War 3 release celebration, Toronto and Vancouver were recently hosts to amazing launch events that let Xbox gamers get an early hands-on with the game and experience a spectacle worthy of the trilogy. With live music, 3D gaming, and a whole lot more it was an experience fitting the most ardent fans.

Gears of War 3

Before the event Gears of War fans were tasked with deciphering a series of clues leaked through viral videos for a disturbing butcher shop selling Locust meat. By working together they were able to track down these shops and walk in for some bloody grub guts and a VIP ticket.

The event itself was a smorgasbord of awesome for Gears of War fans. In addition to the 2 massive 10-person multiplayer stations rocking Execution mode, fans were able to see the game running in stunning 3D thanks to massive LG HDTVs pumping out the game in full high-definition and 3D. Needless to say seeing the game in action was the highlight of the night with fans doubling and tripling their wait in line just to play the game again. Competition was fierce too with every headshot, curb stomp and fatal chainsaw attack ushering cheers and jeers from all around.

In addition to the game itself, fans were treated to a helping of hacked up "Locust meat" to eat while they enjoyed the rest of the event. The squeamish may have lost their appetites, but it turns out Locust make a pretty good snack while getting a Crimson Omen airbrushed on your arm or watching a chainsaw-wielding artist turn a lump of wood into a massive Gears of War sculpture. Fans even got a chance to take green screen photographs with replica Lancer rifles, giving them an awesome souvenir to take home.

The whole night built up to the musical performance by Tokyo Police Club, who rocked the house and got everyone moving. Playing an awesome set, the Newmarket-native band belted out an explosive end to the evening. Big fans of the game themselves, they dedicated the entire performance to Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad, a touching tribute for everyone's favourite Lambent-slaying crew.

Fans loved the event and talking to them it was clear the number one priority for the week was getting their hands on the game and spending some time stomping Locust skulls. With midnight launches pulling huge crowds of dedicated fans it's clear that they're all anxious to experience the epic conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy.

BROTHERS TO THE END.
