As part of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tim Brent and John Mitchell face their fair share of competition in the NHL. This past week they faced a completely different sort of challenge off the ice, facing down our Canadian Xbox Community in a Call of Duty: Black Ops Game with Fame event.Luckily they had enough time between matches to take some of the questions you sent over Facebook and Twitter.
RoboPirateNinja: How do you guys feel about the ratings you get in hockey video games? Do you think they're accurate?
John Mitchell: I guess some guys get bitter and some guys get really happy about it. I guess you can't look too much in to it, but you always want to be at the high end of the stick.
Tim Brent: I think it's hilarious to see where other people think you're rated as a player.
RoboPirateNinja: Other than Call of Duty: Black Ops have you guys been playing anything else lately?
John Mitchell: Nope! There's a couple other guys on the team that play Black Ops too so we just play multiplayer. I've only done like ¾ of the campaign 'cause we just go on LIVE and play.
RoboPirateNinja: What's it like gaming on the road, do you get any time to play during away games?
John Mitchell: Well, there's not really too much time to play on the road. We don't get to bring our Xbox with us, so we get most of our gaming done at home.
Wick98 - What's your pre-game routine like, mentally? Do you have any rituals or superstitions?
John Mitchell: You have to try and think about your opponent, who you're playing against. Get your mind ready and physically warmed up so you can get in to the game right from the get-go.
Tim Brent: It all starts with morning skate, I eat a big meal 'cause you're not going to eat before the end of the game. Then as John said, it's about getting your head in the right state.
ozzi1209 - What made you want to be hockey players?
John Mitchell: It starts when you're young and your dad puts you in hockey. Almost every guy that plays in the NHL fell in love with hockey at a young age. I had dreams of playing in the NHL when I was little but never thought it'd be real, but you work hard and prepare yourself and one day you are.
Tim Brent: When you're a young guy and just playing because you love to play it's always easy to put in the extra effort and the extra time because you love being there.
Keadin: John, as the resident level 50 in Black Ops do you have any tips for Tim?
John Mitchell: I actually already gave him a few tips. There's a couple perks I told him to use, told him to stay low and don't run out in the middle. Put a silencer on your gun so you stay off the radar. There's all kinds of little things he can use to his advantage, but we'll see how he does.
Keadin: How have those tips been working for you?
Tim Brent: They've helped a little, I was killed a lot less than I thought I would. I've got to get more practice though and amp my game up.
Keadin: How has it been interacting with the Canadian Xbox Community?
Tim Brent: I'm sure it's going to be pretty funny today, getting beat by 14 and 15 year olds, but the whole Xbox LIVE thing is amazing.
John Mitchell: Those kids better look out 'cause I'm gonna bring it!
