Migrate Xbox Live Account after creating a Gamer Profile

 

To migrate your current Xbox Live account using your Xbox 360 system, follow these simple steps. These instructions are for you if:

  • You are already a member of Xbox Live; and
  • You've already created an offline gamer profile for your Xbox 360 system; and
  • You still need to activate your existing Xbox Live membership for Xbox 360

Migrate Your Current Account Information

To activate your membership for use with Xbox 360:

  1. You'll need a Microsoft Passport Network account. You may already have one. You have a Passport Network account if you have any of the following:
    • A Hotmail account.
    • An MSN account.
    • An Xbox.com account.
    If you don't have a Passport Network accounts, visit www.passport.net to set it up, or create it from the Xbox Dashboard during sign-up. (E-mail accounts must be established beforehand. To set up a free Hotmail account, visit MSN Hotmail.)
  2. Remove any disc you may have put in your console.
  3. Make sure your Xbox 360 console is connected to Xbox Live. If you created or signed in with an offline profile when you turned on your system, be sure to sign out (X) for this procedure.

  4. Go to the Xbox Live area of the Xbox Dashboard.
  5. Choose Recover Gamertag from Xbox Live and follow the on-screen instructions to activate your new Xbox Live account.


Recover your gamertag

You'll be asked to enter your gamertag (use the same one you've been using for your original Xbox gameplay), select preferences for language, country/region, time-zone, and Xbox Live promotions.

Upon completion, you'll be all set to dive headlong into online gaming and other digital entertainment for Xbox 360.

Notes

  • Once you've activated your account according to the procedure outlined above, your current Xbox Live subscription will open up an Xbox Live Gold membership for Xbox 360. Any and all remaining time on your Xbox Live subscription can be used on either your original Xbox or your Xbox 360 system. You'll enjoy continued access to demos, trailers, downloads, tournaments, friends, and your gamertag, your unique digital identity.
  • At the end of your current membership term, your membership will automatically renew to an annual membership at the current price unless you change your renewal method or cancel before your membership ends.
  • You can view pricing details in the Account Management area of your gamer profile.
