Xbox Video Game System Setup - Step 1
Review these basic facts to determine your TV or TV/VCR configuration before setup.
Connecting to a stand-alone television:
Newer model televisions:
If your television has a composite video input, use the standard AV cable included with the Xbox. Older model televisions: Older television models may not include an AV input. If your television only contains a cable input or antenna input with an adapter for cable, and does not appear to have an AV input, you will need to purchase an Xbox RF Adaptor. This item is sold separately at your Xbox retailer. Front- or rear-projection televisions: Some televisions, especially front- or rear-projection televisions, can be damaged if any video games, including Xbox games, are played on them. Static images presented during the normal course of gameplay may "burn" into the screen, causing a permanent shadow of the static image to appear at all times, even when video games are not being played. Consult your television owner's manual to determine if video games can be played safely on your set. Note: Digital Audio, Component inputs and RF (cable) inputs are not supported by the Standard AV Pack, and require the purchase of a separate AV Pack (such as the Advanced AV Pack, or the Xbox RF Adapter).
