Error message: Your Xbox can't recognize this disc. Make sure it's an Xbox game, DVD movie, or audio CD. Also check to see if the disc is dirty or damaged. Remove the disc to continue.

This behavior may occur if any of the following conditions are true:

• The disc cannot be read by the console.
• The disc is scratched or smudged.

Note Use laser lens cleaners or similar products at your own risk, because their effectiveness and impact on the Xbox system has not been fully determined. Xbox cannot promote or recommend any type of cleaner for use with the Xbox. To resolve this issue:

1. Try to clean the disc. To do this:
   • Hold the disc by the edges without touching the surface with your fingers.
   • Clean the disc with a soft cloth, lightly wiping from the center outwards.
   • Do not use solvents or chemicals to clean the disc.
   • Try to play the game again. If this does not work, press the power button one time to turn off the Xbox console, and then press it again to turn it back on. Try other game discs in the Xbox console to confirm that the problem is only with one disc.
     
     
2. Test other Xbox-compatible discs in the system. If you experience this with only one or two discs, the disc or discs may be defective. Exchange it or them at the retail store where purchased.
   
   
3. If you cannot play more than one or two compatible discs on the Xbox, it may indicate a problem that will require service by Microsoft. If this is the case, please contact Xbox Customer Support.
