Error message: There is a problem with the disc you are using. It may be dirty or damaged.

This error may occur if the game being played does not read correctly. The disc might not be dirty or damaged.

What to try

1. Clean the disc.
   
   Note Use laser lens cleaners or similar products at your own risk, because their effectiveness and impact on the Xbox console have not been fully determined. Xbox cannot promote or recommend any type of cleaner for use with the Xbox.
   
   
   1. Hold the disc by the edges without touching the surface of the disc with your fingers.
   2. Clean the disc with a soft cloth, lightly wiping from the center outwards.
   3. Do not use solvents or chemicals to clean the disc.
   4. Try to play the game again. If this does not work, continue to the next step.
      
      
2. Turn off the Xbox console, and then turn it back on.
   
   
3. Try other game discs in the Xbox console to determine whether the problem occurs with all discs or only one or two discs.
   
   
4. If the problem occurs with only one or two discs, this may indicate a problem with the disc itself. 
   
   If the problem occurs with more than two discs, service may be required. If this is the case, contact Xbox Support to find out about the appropriate repair procedure.
