Make sure that the Communicator headset connector is securely inserted into the jack on the side of the base unit.
If the Communicator is securely inserted into the Xbox Controller and the Xbox is turned on, but the Communicator lights are not on, the Communicator is not functional. If this is the case, the Communicator must be replaced. To do this, contact Xbox Support about exchanging your Communicator if it is still under warranty.
If there is a player you cannot hear during a game session, determine if the player has been voice banned. To do this, ask the player if they received a message when they signed in to the game. If they did, the message may have been a notification that they have been voice banned. If they have not yet read the message, ask them to retrieve and read the message on the Xbox dashboard to determine if they have been voice banned.
On the Xbox dashboard, verify whether voice is disabled. By default, this option is enabled. This configuration, however, may have been changed.
