Xbox Live Gold and Silver members can subscribe to "MMO" multiplayer games.
The new Xbox Live®, as you've no doubt heard, gives Xbox 360™ gamers a choice. You can join Xbox Live as a Gold member and get access to all the new features like TrueSkill™ matchmaking for online multiplayer gameplay, spectator mode, and exclusive Xbox Live Marketplace content.
Current Xbox Live members will also have the chance to activate their current subscription on Xbox 360 and move right into a Gold level membership. Xbox Live on Xbox 360 also offers a free level of service called Xbox Live Silver which, while not allowing multiplayer gameplay, does offer gamers the ability to create a gamer card and gamertag as well as chat with people on their Friends List and access most of the great content on Xbox Live Marketplace.
Both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Live Silver members will also have the chance to participate in one of the hottest new genres in gaming, massively multiplayer games, or MMOs for short.
Pull Quote: Even if you’re not a full fledged Xbox Live Gold member, you’ll be able to participate in the growing phenomenon that is massively multiplayer games.
Getting On the MMO Train Good news, Xbox Live members! Massively multiplayer titles are one of the most exciting aspects of the new Xbox Live, and no one has to miss out. For example, if you want to enter the world of Final Fantasy XI™ and get in on some of the most graphically stunning and furiously addictive gameplay in the world, you just have to plug into your broadband connection, create a gamertag, and you’re off. MMO games will come with their own subscription plan, so even if you’re not a full-fledged Xbox Live Gold member you’ll be able to participate in this growing phenomenon.
