Since Counter Strike, different companies have been making affordable titles with only one mode, online. Most of them are average cheap bludge games, but this one might actually be worth your dollar.

Unlike most other online shooters without a campaign, this actually tries to have a story, but I don’t think anyone really cares about that, I sure don’t. It’s just about these two forces trying to steal an artefact off each other I think.

The first thing that you are most likely to do is the six different training modes, in these modes, you learn that Shadowrun isn’t your typical shooter; you use magic to kill your enemy along with guns, swords and tech supplies. And this is one of the reasons that I would buy this over Counter Strike, but wait there’s more, there’s always more…

Games are compiled with first to six of several different game modes, they give them nice names but really it is just capture the flag and death match. There is no hiding that fact. The game features some different races to be, all with their different ups and downs. This adds a new and exciting way to play the game each time; you can go in with a different race, and a different strategy.

The achievements are very well thought out and very well balanced, I haven’t seen achievements this fun since Crackdown. Then again, it is Microsoft and most of their games have over 40 achievements that are fun to get and challenging.

I do have a bone to pick with this game, it has mad issues with connecting to games and staying there, I always get lagged out half way through and it just says, ‘you lost connection to the server’, it’s ridiculous! Especially because of the fact that you get the achievements at the end of each match, I have gotten so many achievements but then disconnected its ridiculous! Hopefully they release a patch for this because I know that I am not the only one with this problem, I have met many people who get very frustrated with this, like I said, hopefully they release a fix or patch or update to get rid of this.

The graphics are great, really something to be proud of, and the different types of magic are really different and original, probably the main thing that sets this away from being a direct Counter Strike clone, so to speak.

The game takes full advantage of the ability to play Computer and Xbox, gamers who have Windows Vista will also be able to play this game against or with players on Xbox Live, with no extra lag, brilliant! Vista users will also be able to get their own set of achievements for their gamer card which they can recover on their Vista PC or Xbox 360 console, great work Microsoft!

There are many must own games on the Xbox 360: Gears of War, Crackdown, Dead Rising etcetera, etcetera…but with a new game mode and a patch to fix up those connection errors, this will surely be one of them.
