MCM Media unveils the inaugural Take 40 Live event Wolfmother

Set to rock the stage at a free gig in Sydney in conjunction with Guitar Hero® 5

Sydney, Austraila - September 17, 2009 - Take 40 Live is set to blast off with the mighty Wolfmother playing live on Friday 2nd October at the Entertainment Quarter Moore Park, to launch Guitar Hero® 5. From 5.30pm on 2nd October, fans will be treated a blistering set as Wolfmother rips through tracks from their brand new album COSMIC EGG, out 23rd October. COSMIC EGG was recorded over a 2-month period in Los Angeles with heralded UK producer Alan Moulder. A record that's at once a darker shade of night at one end of the sonic spectrum, and a euphoric light of day at the other. The first single, "New Moon Rising", is powering up the airplay charts.

Guitar Hero 5 Presents

Wolfmother's debut self-titled album resulted in more than one million sales and sold out live shows the world over, multiple ARIA Awards and a Grammy, ensuring their status as one of Australia's pre-eminent rock acts. It is only fitting that the newest instalment in the Guitar Hero® series, Guitar Hero 5, pays homage to the band by featuring them alongside iconic artists such as Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon and Deep Purple. In addition, the band has Guitar Hero to thank for their new line up, with Ian Peres being selected as the band's new bassist after submitting a video of himself rocking out in Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock.

Nadya Balzarolo, General Manager Promotions, Universal Music, said today "Wolfmother is the perfect band to launch this live series. Fresh from touring the USA and nearing end of their Australian dates, the band will be primed and ready to deliver their 'not to be missed' live show". Philip Earl, Managing rector, Activision Blizzard Australia New Zealand commented: "Guitar Hero has a huge local following, so we wanted to include Wolfmother, one of Australia's best home grown rock acts into Guitar Hero 5.
Wolfmother joins an impressive international line-up featured in the game, including over 85 artists such as Coldplay, Iggy Pop, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Iron Maiden. We are looking forward to seeing all the Guitar Hero fans down at Fox Studios to celebrate the launch of the game." Guitar Hero 5 hits stores on 16th September. Guitar Hero fans can also log onto guitarhero.com to download Wolfmother's track Back Round for free.
