What does your gamertag mean?

Diresim comes from the personalities of the multiplayer simulants from the Nintendo 64 game, Perfect Dark. The bots were named Easysim, Hardsim, Meatsim, Vengesim, etc. I called my profile Diresim and it stuck.

What type of gamer are you?

There’s pretty much no genres that I don’t enjoy. I love my shooters, racing games, sports games, puzzlers, platformers, action games, survival horror. You name it. Having said that, what I most enjoy are games with a healthy dose of strategy and cooperative play. That’s what drew me to Halo night after night for months. To excel you really had to work with a decent team of guys that you had developed strategies with. The multiplayer component of the Spinter Cell series is another favourite. There’s no other multiplayer mode that has ever made me freak out quite like spy versus merc. The intensity of play really is unparalleled.

What is your gaming history?

Although I enjoyed a bit of gaming as a kid, it wasn’t until I saved up for a Nintendo 64 that I really started to get into it. I remember all nighters with the guys at college playing 1080 Snowboarding, Goldeneye and all those classics. Over time I started getting back into PC games, playing networked Blizzard RTS’s and any Bioware RPG that was released. With the launch of the PS2 console games really evolved and since then I’ve hardly touched my PC. I just much prefer a couch and a controller. Now with the 360 it has evolved again, and I’m loving it.

What do you love most about Xbox?

Probably the ability to play in glorious 720p on my widescreen LCD TV. Oh, and achievements. And the marketplace too. And the wireless controllers…
