Single/Team Game Mode Outline
1. Death Match
Like with all games that include deathmatch the aim is pretty simple, you are pitted against other players fighting for the number 1 spot. GTA:IV Deathmatch does that and also adds a little something extra with the winner not being determined by only the number of kills but also the amount of money they hold. Money is a big factor in every game mode and Death Match is no exception.
Team Death Match: Exactly like Deathmatch only with the inclusion of teams. There can be more than 2 teams and the same rules apply to Team Deathmatch as with Deathmatch - the team with the most money at the end of the match wins the game. Team work is best for this.
Recommended number of players: DM: 4-16 - TDM: 8-16
Recommended Area of Play: Depending on how many players you wish to have in your game then go for a small area for less than 10 or a medium to big area for a full 16, with re-spawns on near/medium.
Tips: Kills + Money = Win - When you dispose of someone if they drop any money make a dash for it when safe and retrieve it as it will not only increase your total owned money but also increases your chances of winning.
Cover System - Make great use of the cover system as it is very handy and used wisely with Auto-Aim will guarantee you easy targets to pick off and increase your chance of success!

2. Mafia Work
Objective based game mode. At the start of the game you get a call from your boss Kenny Petrovic - from there on in you are on your own to complete objectives he sets out for you ranging from eliminating other mafia associates, blowing up certain cars to escorting particular products. To ensure victory in Mafia Work, make sure you have the biggest bank at the end of the allocated time limit.
Team Mafia Work: This plays out exactly like Mafia Work only now there are teams competing against each other working for Mr. Petrovic. Again the winner is determined by the team with the biggest bank at the end of the time limit.
Recommended number of players: MW: 4-16 - TMW: 8-16
Recommended Area of Play: Regardless of having the full 16 players, stick to one island when playing either Mafia Work or Team Mafia Work as it is big enough to cope with a full room, and will ensure that getting to the destination will not take longer than a minute and that you will not be out of the action for a prolonged period of time.
Tips: Team Work – You’ll require communication and team work. Assign roles to each team member and work together to take out the opponents going for the same objective.
Know Your Way - Whether Mafia Work or Team Mafia Work, make sure you know your way around the map. Set a waypoint the moment you have received your objective and work with it to get there the fastest.

3. Car Jack City
3 cars appear on the map at different places and it is your objective to steal them and take them to the extraction point. One car is the drug car and has a green colour icon compared to the 2 blue coloured icons which represent the regular cars. Extracting the Drug Car gives you more money than the regular cars. When the Time limit expires the winner is determined by the played with the biggest bank.
TeamCar Jack City: Exactly the same as Car Jack City only now you work as a team to collect cars and take them to the extraction point before the other team/teams does.
Recommended number of players: CJC: 4-16 - TCJC: 6-16
Recommended Area of Play: One island is sufficient to hold a full squad of players thriving to steal the cars. As you would not want to be caught driving for 5 minutes across the bridge to another island just to deliver one car.
Tips: Conservative Driver - Delivering a car to the extraction point in a damaged state earns you less money. Make sure you drive fast but at the same time do not crash into anything as its value goes down with every dent and scratch.
Money Car - The green icon on the map is the drug car and gives the most money when extracted. Always have 2+ players going for this car as it will give you a big boost in money and also the lead.

4. Race
Pit yourself against 1-15 other players for the title of 1st when crossing the finish line. Choose from every single vehicle in GTA: IV from sports cars, helicopters, trucks and motorcycles. With tracks that range from the industrial streets of Alderney to the busy city streets of Algonquin.
Cannon Ball Run: This is another option in the Race mode. This is the same as race except there are 7 checkpoints placed around the map of the hosts choosing that you must make your own way there.
GTA Race: GTA Race is the same good old race mode but with the added twist, the inclusion of weapons. Weapons are placed around the track and can be picked up by driving over them. So it is the same fun race with the ability to eliminate your opponent in the process to guarantee 1st place.
Recommended number of players: Race: 4-16 - GTA Race: 4-16
Recommended Area of Play: No matter how many players you have in the game racing against even one opponent is challenging. There are a wide variety of short medium and long tracks so the city is at your disposal to burn rubber and pop a tire in the process.
Tips: Knowledge - The best way to win a race is of course be the fastest. Practice driving with every car in the game so that when choosing a specific car to race with you know the pros and cons of each.
Need for Speed - Only way to win a race is with Speed. Drive fast and master your turning so that, come the corner, you can turn at maximum speed and hold the lead firmly.

5. Cops and Crooks
This mode consists of a total of 2 rounds. With 1 round, one team plays as the crooks and the other team play as the cops and vice versa. The 2 sub games modes are;
All for One - The crooks must protect their Boss from the cops while at the same time escort him to the extraction to win the round, while the cops need to eliminate the mafia boss to win round.
One for All - The crooks need to make it to the extraction point with the cops hot on their tale. To win this either the cops need to eliminate all the crooks or the crooks need to fill up the extraction vehicle with more than half their members to win. In this mode you do not re-spawn once dead so be cautious.
Recommended number of players: AFO + OFA: 6-16
Recommended Area of Play: Well the whole city is the map for this game as the extraction point varies each time a new round starts.
Tips: Careful - When playing All for One, the cops know exactly where the crooks are, and also the boss as his icon is a crosshair on the map. So be cautious at every turn as you never know where the cops may pop up from, since they know where you are but you don’t know where they are.
Assign Roles - With a car full of 4 crooks assign roles to each. Front passenger setting the way point to the extraction place and also looking at the map directing the driver of shorter routes, and the 2 back seat passengers being the fire support for when the cops show up.
Separate - The cops always spawn in one car so best bet is to each get your own car thus having a better chance at eliminating the crooks.

6. Turf War
Both teams control their own turf with others placed around the map that can be controlled. The aim of this is to basically capture and hold these turfs for the duration of the game while disposing of your opponents. The winner is determined by the team with the largest bank either at the end of the time limit or which team reaches the maximum $$. Money is earned by controlling a turf and also killing your opponents.
Recommended number of players: 6 -16
Recommended Area of Play: Depending on the number of players, 1 island should be big enough.
Tips: Backup - Always have backup with you when going to take over a turf. Going in alone will only guarantee you a quick death and that the other team controls the turf, as with another team member he can create a diversion, or give fire support from a different angle.
Faster -The more team members capturing a turf at the same time means it will be captured faster and the more turfs you control means the money will role in faster so always go in pairs or more when wanting to capture a turf.

Co-Operative Game Mode Outline
7. Deal Breaker
It’s your time to shine. The Hells Angels are making a drug deal and it is up to you and your team to go in and make cause mayhem. Eliminate anyone and everyone in attendance to the deal and make way with the good’s to win. Don't get caught or killed and you’ll be walking away with a nice big payment.
Recommended number of players: 2-4
Recommended Area of Play: The deal always goes down at Acter Industrial Park and the extraction point is always where you start off every time, so no matter how many times you restart the game you will always needs to go to the same place
Tips: Improvise - Don’t be afraid to try new things when approaching the deal. If Rambo-ing your way in doesn’t work take the stealthy approach.
Team Work - Like with other team based game modes this one requires you to work as a team to get the job done correctly. Communicate and assign roles and you should be sure to succeed.

8. Hangman’s N.O.O.S.E
Kenny Petrovic has just arrived in the city but not without a welcoming party. You have been contracted to protect him by any means necessary and escort him to the extraction point at Colony Island before the N.O.O.S.E officers kill him. You only have 3 re-spawns so be careful.
Recommended number of players: 2-4
Recommended Area of Play: Once again it is a pre-selected pathway. You start at the Francis Airport and need to make your way to Colony Island
Tips: Move! N.O.O.S.E forces just keep re-spawning so there is no point in staying and trying to eliminate them all because they will continue to show up. If anything dispose of those in your path and just get out of there as fast as you can.
Protection - Only have one player escorting Petrovic while have the rest get into separate cars to drive around you while shooting both cop cars and swat vans. Your main priority is to get Petrovic to the extraction, not to get the most kills.

9. Bomb Da Base II
This pays homage to one of the best missions in GTA history that was in GTA: III. By orders of Kenny Petrovic you’ve been assigned the job of blowing up a huge ship that sits stationed at the docks. Your first objective is to steal the 2 bombs from a convoy and then proceed to the helicopter which is your transport to the docks. Once there, a bomb must be placed on the lower and upper decks of the ship and then watch the fireworks. Only 3 re-spawns so be cautious
Recommended number of players: 2-4
Recommended Area of Play: Since this is a co-operative mission, the bombs, helicopter and ship are placed in a pre-selected area. They do not change, but they are spaced apart so you will be travelling a whole to get to all 3 different points.
Tips: Cover - Use the environment to your advantage. If you’re pinned down take cover behind a crate or wall and take out the enemy one by one.
Split Up - Once at the boat, split the team up and have 2 players plant the bomb at the upper deck and the other 2 head to the lower deck. This way you get the job done faster.

10. Free Mode
The whole city is yours to enjoy. You and your friends can wreak havoc anywhere you want, fly helicopters, get away from cops, and blow up cars. Your options are endless. There are no rules.
Recommended number of players: 2-16
Recommended Area of Play: You can choose to cause havoc throughout the whole city if you want or you can choose to stick to one island to have your fun.
Tips: Fun - Have fun in this mode, you can go anywhere and do anything the City is yours!
