| | The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai is an intense 2-D action platforming game with a unique highly stylized look and fast and fluid action. The game's hero is a lowly dishwasher (the occupation, not the appliance) who has lost everything, including his heart, at the hands of the deceptive and evil cyborg movement and is seeking revenge against a mechanized soulless army.
Unleash devastating combos with an unlikely hero. Gameplay in The Dishwasher centers around execution of devastating combos while dodging enemy attacks using weapons such as the warp blade, kama (scythes), chainsaw, or arsenal, as well as evasive maneuvers like wall-running, quick-warping, and rolling (complete with Woo-inspired evasive gunplay). The Dishwasher is basically a full beta version--it contains 11 fully playable levels and a fully resolving story.
The game has a unique style. About the Creator James E. Silve did everything in this game—programming, music, sound effects, artwork, and level design. He is a one-man studio and developed this after hours while working full time at a job (which he has quit since winning Dream-Build-Play and a XBLA publishing contract). His inspiration for the game comes from having been a dishwasher himself and being a fan of Bruce Lee who also happened to have been a dishwasher. According to James, they simply don’t get any respect and it was time for them to be thrust into the hero’s role. James adds, "If the testers/judges are stuck on any particular part, feel free to contact me for tips, as I sincerely hope that the game in its entirety be considered during the judging process. Also, if you would like to unlock everything (levels, weapons, magic), go to the Options menu and, while holding Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Left Shoulder, and Right Shoulder, press A. You should hear some kind of sound indicating that it worked." More XNA Games |
